Microbes - Cohan Mangu-Beckham

 Microorganisms

Throughout term 1, level 1 science, my class and I have been studying the topic "microorganisms" and how they work around the world. For those of you that have no clue on what microorganisms are very small living particles (Bacteria/fungi/virus) that are not visible with the naked eye. I personally have been learning about the life process about each of these microbes, How they move around, how they excrete, how there reproduce, grow, eat and many more. There are factors that effect the life process of microbes, most relating to temperature. Temperature is a key factor that effects microbes. Microbes absolutely hate any temperature that is not relevant to the room temperature. If the temperature is too high/low, the microbes will either die or avoid that certain space.

What I want to see in New Zealand when I am 25 - CohanManguBeckham

What i want New Zealand to look like when i am 25...

New Zealand as is, does not feel normal. My grandfather has told me, when he was younger, New Zealand was a whole lot different.Despite New Zealand still running through the system of Democracy, everything has changed. What I have really kept an eye on, was Money. There is a common quote that states, Money is Everything.I believe that New Zealand abides to that quote because that is what makes The country function.

With New Zealand having 3 official languages, It also means there are 3 different ways of living (culture wise). Take my culture for example; The way of living in my culture is buy land, make money with that land and use that money to make more money. Once I have finished, I pass the land down to a direct descendant of my family. But you see, My grandfather says it was easy to make money back then and everything was so cheap. But now-days, as i said, it's a whole lot different.

a very large proportion of New Zealand is homeless. Reasons being, No job and even finding school non-affordable. I've learnt that school is a key part of life, and people that can't afford school is very heart breaking. When finding a job whilst homeless is extremely hard. Employers around this country have high expectations and qualifications in order to work in their specific space. This is something I really want to change.

About me! - English

About me!

This year, i'm looking forward to jump start because I really want to know what gaining credits is like. I want a taste if what NCEA really is. I've never really had someone to admire, mainly because I haven't found that specific person but I know that person is still out there. I've been wanting to achieve my goal  ob being the smartest in  the class, well at least one of the smartest, and i'll be honest, I think i'm almost there. There are many more things to look forward to in my life its just I can't think about it and that's it for now.

electricity

Today in metal technology, we have been learning about electricity. i've learnt that electrons are what power electricity. electrons are the pieces of an atom that are zipping around the shells. I know how voltage runs through out batteries (negative to positive) as well as power (positive to negative). I learnt about cells in batteries and and that they need a flow to keep them going.

Assembly period 4 - CohanManguBeckham

Assembly, Period 4

"What are the benefits of a regular routine of getting up on time in the morning?"

I don't see any benefits of getting up on time in the morning i mean, you have to go to bed earlier the previous night so you get a decent rest and enough energy to keep you energised for the day. For me, I have to get up very early to feed the dog, shower, have breakfast, make my lunch and take a 10 minute walk to the bus stop. I really don't see any benefits in my daily routine.

"What is one positive thing that you can do for others in your day?"

Because i am one of the smartest in the class, i enjoy helping others to keep them up to date. ,For instance if someone is stuck, I'll be willing to help them no matter how far behind they are. If i have work due soon, I may even be polite enough to help them out in my spare time.

Metal technology - Automotive

Automotive

For the last few lessons of Metal technology, my class and i have been learning about automotive and how a petrol and diesel engine works. personally, I prefer an diesel engine. mainly because it cost almost a dollar less than regular petrol however it is not that good on the environment. The difference between a petrol engine and a diesel engine is a petrol engine needs a spark plug to start the vehicle where diesel engines need compressed air to start the vehicle. i'd prefer pwning a manual vehicle, 5 speed to be exact. Reasons being, you can haul heavy stuff or when your stuck, you can get out just by adjusting the transfer case. manual can go faster with the more RPM (revs per minute) which is another reason why i want a manual.

Bridge building

Today in metal technology, our class was split up into 4 groups
and we were told to create a bridge out of Popsicle sticks and a hot glue gun.
at the end of this unit, what ever group held the most kilograms on their bridge would get a prize
of $5 and I happened to be in the winning group. Me and my two teammates,Rome (the guy on the very right) and Vaden ( the guy in the middle with the red hair) are so amazed that we won and it so happened that we beat the school record!!!

Here is a link that takes you to to a result table and proof that we won...
